Where do I find a new neurologist?? Do I go to Geisinger? I really don't want to go to Geisinger, but I have no idea where else to go.
In a scheduled appointment with my family Dr., he suggests that I go to Hershey Medical Center where there are a group of neurologists who are supposed to be the best in the state of PA. What do I have to lose? He calls and gets me in to see Dr. Ray Reichwein in Hershey. As soon as I walk in Dr. Reichwein's office with my MRI, he doesn't waste a moment! A classic case of MS!!!!
Immediately he starts me on shots, three times per week, of Rebif, an interferon, which depletes my immune system in an attempt to stop my body from fighting itself! Just what I always wanted to do - give myself shots!!!! I just can't do it, I can't stick a needle in myself, so Russ starts giving me the shots! They hurt like HECK!! Not the needle, but the medicine. It burns and destroys the tissue in my arms or legs or stomach - wherever Russ gives me the shot! I guess this will be my life forever! I did have the where-for-all to get my shots from Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Monday, Wednesday and Friday! Now my weekends are free of painful shots!
Mondays come so fast, however!
